the anti-bitcoin crowd seems to have more red flags of groupthink than the pro bitcoin crowd. this is not obvious bc the pro bitcoin crowd does some very culty things like moon laser eyes which attracts True Believers to drum the beat
however if you compare the core arguments by the Executives at their centers, the pro-bitcoin crowds phrase it as an asymmetric bet. all the value judgements are hedged e.g. “if A is true” “given what i know” “based on this understanding” etc...
the anti-bitcoin crowd however has far more absolute verbiage “just a slow database” “no value whatsoever” “a delusion” etc... and in general feels very arrogant and “sharp”
a desire for absolutes and outright dismissal of anything that can’t be fully legibly understood as well as an attraction to those who desire an “elite” identity
