insanity can be defined as a distance from the center so great that all messages that reach you end up as noise
a cult “solves” loneliness by adjusting its culture to be hyper expansionary, similar to how a cancer cell’s mutation causes it to grow uncontrollably everything is measured against alignment with culture and especially on how much growth and audience the new member can offer

unlike a company which uses culture instrumentally, cult cultures have no objective goals except for expansion. if there is a goal, it is often an impossible one or one very far off

original cults are actually quite interesting as they are built around an idea that has Resonance. a unique pain bringing forth a new message unoriginal cults that derive from regurgitations are like franchise mlm’s. somewhat scammy feeling

yet even original cults are derivative. the prophets at their center are not creating a new message but rather creating a new *interpretation* of a message. a discovery that is a rediscovery it’s the difference between a scientist and a regurgitating student

the problem that the message solves is always the same. whether it says “All is One” or “The Kingdom of Heaven is Within You” it resolves the loneliness problem by showing that it was never a problem “You” have always beens alone. And always will be.
