Gödel's proofs of his Incompleteness theorems showed that mathematicians will always have a job. I don't see the cognitive dissonance there, unless it hinges on a misunderstanding of what he proved.

the analogy is that both of them point out "holes" in the foundational assumptions that prevent them from realizing "truth" bc of paradoxes that arise from self-reference
