2 definitions of store of value that should not be confused one is the inability to be diluted by external actors the other is market price consistency across time

as market activity is unpredictable hooman activity, this latter definition of store of value doesn’t exist. the most u can get to is “boring commodity” with stable buy/sell activity (like cash, avocados, and lumber)

this means that preserving short term liquidity is different than preserving equity e.g. if i think 1 bitcoin is worth 50k of work toasting avocados, NOONE can touch my crystallized avocado blood sweat and tears

vs say i trade my avocado tears for 50k dollars. i go into cryosleep and wake up. now i can only buy one avocado for 50k my equity stake in the dollars was diluted so my purchasing power was obliterated

so if i really really really think 1 bitcoin is worth 50k, it is the BEST thing i can buy however if i am making expectations of market behavior, then i can easily wile out all my liquid assets

and this is hard. bitcoin has no actual value and is not a productive asset that yields. it is primarily a “perfect” safe haven. (though in the coming years it will likely act as a rapidly appreciating high vol asset bc such a thing has never existed and is desired)

tldr bitcoin is like your SO, it’s a love hate relationship but at least u always have each other. fiat is like a coworker u talk to in the same professional range of dry topics day and day out while actually slowly becoming strangers
