every colleague conflict is like 2 countries in the middle east fighting. they go to manager (usa) and ask for help, it replies “both of u stop fighting” while secretly supporting one. they go to HR (united nations) and it says “both of u stop fighting, listen to your manager”

the analogy is that the policeman appealed to for justice turns out to be only interested in preservation of the status quo and that an appeal to an even higher authority reveals it as only capable of impotent posturing

imo there is an archetypical Bully/Victim/Authority/God story and was pointing out its occurrence at the micro interpersonal level as well as the geo-political level in a "everything is fractal!" as a cat i do not know geopolitics so i kept the specific reference vague
