imo developed country workers should be terrified of a remote work trend a massive amount of in-office/country/person value is being able to contribute to social corporate status weighing turn into an input/output blackbox and u r fucked unless u have competitive advantage

if u compare actual skill & willingness to work hard or bend over to power distance there is absolutely no way to compete w/ workers from asia/se-asia/etc... minor advantages include timezone, language, culture, etc..

but unless you are a leading expert at something, the bulk of the value of a local worker is in their contribution to the in-person local private social hierarchy

this isn't purely bc vanity. social hierarchies create gradients of trust, allowing 4 less friction because actions don't have to be protocolized. it's more "agile" a game of thrones is a middleground between inefficienct robust anarchy and efficient brittle philosopher king
