the answer to “do hoomans affect the earth” is obviously “of course” the debate of “truth” is a red herring bc truth hasn’t even been defined. reducing the nuance to a black or white binary decision is exactly how “outgroups” who are the enemy of the “ingroup” are created

what’s really asked is “what should we be doing next?” and there’s no way to balance and weight everyone’s perspective if one side is just chest beating “DO WHAT I SAY!! DO THE CLIMATE SAVING”

this kind of vague Super Goal is just a variation on what apocalypse cults used to punt decisions into the future and rationalize any behavior. the purpose is always to maintain centrality and power, never to increase clarity and understanding to empower micro level decisions

imo the only thing that’s clear is that things are complex (and thus unclear) demonizing those who question in order to ram a ham fist of righteousness into them and expecting them to enjoy it? that’s just violent
