the biggest argument imo against this is that the infrastructure they build (companies mostly) are “corrupt”. they commoditize life into coglike machines while also destroying the planet or somethinf

however this is the cost of maintaining the quality of life gap between a rich developed country and a poor developing one. “someone HAS to be manager and it may as well be ME”

e.g. government policy is stuck between falling even further behind china bc it can’t mobilize its populace to do Economy Stuff and losing the support of its populace thus disabling the very ability to govern! (since a democracy requires popular support)

it’s like when a king has to spent 100% of energy from keeping the kingdom from falling apart and has no energy left for growth, evolution, or defense against outsiders. it has to go full turtle mode until it has excess capacity to deal with reality

this is why a wealth gap that is too large creates political instability.

when a large portion of the population basically lives like they are in a developing poor country, they have no incentive to help maintain the status quo since the status quo IS about maintaining a quality of life differential. a differential that doesn’t exist for them.
