one of the reasons education is so poorly paid is because the fundamental choice of what to do with a knowledge gap is “explain it” or “exploit it”

in cultures where the education industry is very lucrative (china/japan/etc...) the culture sees knowledge itself as a way to hold advantage over the future

there’s truth and virtue in the “exploit” stance though. some things can’t be explained, they have to be SHOWN
