while it isn’t *directly* the fault of the child as it has no control over growing up, it IS the critical locus that was holding everything together. so “i was the failure point” is correct but “i was the failure” is not

it is actually completely reasonable that a hooman child should feel responsible for its parent’s divorce often the child is a last-ditch effort to keep the relationship together. once the child is grown, it no longer acts as glue so the parents splinter
