exponential processes work with time. the sooner you get in on one, the gap between you and someone who is not on one starts growing and the gap can NEVER be closed because it is a gap in time

while there are certain exceptions like bitcoiners who catapulted themselves to the other side, most people cannot cross the time gap no matter how hard they work

this can feel really unfair when the time gap is more than a hooman lifespan. children are needed to continue the dream. (many immigrant workers trying to send their children to school understand this intuitively. )

whenever new money starts figuring out how to cross the time gap (usually through whatever technology is new at the time) the time gap adjusts to keep the uncultured barbarians at bay

take piano. you can’t just BUY piano skills or even buy appreciation for classical piano. take wine. it has both a money barrier and a time barrier

take beer and coffee. they reduce the money requirements when a sub-distinction between high-class poors and low-class poors are needed. pure time gap gatekeeping.

i suspect there are 2 things at play here. one is that running a marathon as if it were a sprint matches the same “get started early” heuristic for exponential processes

just like credit cards are exactly the same as wealth until payback time, this “early start” doesn’t actually start an exponential process but burns the candle from both ends

the other is that relationships are also exponential. parentally mediated early-start rocket bootstrapping probably DOES trigger some exponential clock, it’s just very inefficient and drains energy from other areas such as people skills

this is bc time gapped exponential processes are THE secret that allow you to do some upfront work and sit back and enjoy the bountiful harvest gardening wo realizing this time leverage leads one to overpay unnecessarily

yes the tiger mom makes sacrifices herself but imagine if u could get the same tiger child result with less of the seething-resentment-for-parents-spilling-into-subconscious-self-and-self-race-hate

but because a certain sacrifice feels expected and necessary instead of leveraging the secret of exponential processes a tradeoff is made in the form of stunted people skills as well as self-understanding

self-understanding is maimed similar to immune system suppression post organ transplant. bc the parent needs control and is living “through” the child, the child’s personal compass is neutered (and often never recovers)

bc the internal system now has no violent immune cells that can fend off foreign invaders and set boundaries necessary for a sense of sovereignty it now requires a perfectly sterile and stable environment which the parent lovingly provides
