rationalists for example used to describe those who exploring and expanding the LIMITS of formal systems. nowadays it is worn with pride by those who think formal systems can solve everything.
it is interesting to note that those at the cutting edge of a domain often first name the act of expanding that domain, but are then supplanted by those who ossify that domain by being overly zealous with regards to the domain

to wear something with pride means to be ignorant of the cutting edge, the limits. this prevents exploration but also more importantly prevents RECONCILIATION. there is no way to mediate a border dispute if you DON’T KNOW where the border is

post-rationalists similarly started off as an attempt at bridging formal systems with... “other” systems. nowadays when it is worn with pride it indicates an infatuation of “other” systems. e.g. a tendency to believe that mysticism can solve everything.

being near the heart of a domain vs at the edges of a domain gives a solid sense of identity. you have a tribe, a people, a side.

domains have a gradient, the “edge” is very fuzzy and blurs into each other. labelling self in such a fuzzy area requires some irony and non-seriousness. it’s hard to pick a side b/c you don’t see them.

it’s also a somewhat hated and undesired place to be. there’s both the “The Hottest Places in Hell Are Reserved for Those Who in a Period of Moral Crisis Maintain Their Neutrality”

as well as how being between two domains means that you are actively dissolving and destroying the old domains to create some sort of new primordial soup that creates something new.

once one chooses a label one picks up a Name and thus at most becomes a really really long finger pointing at the moon.
