If biodiversity is a value, does that imply that we should be actively trying to create new species, perhaps through genetic engineering? (The other way that comes to mind is to significantly alter biological habitats, thus forcing species to evolve in order to adapt.)
imo diversity decreases over time (e.g. entropy) the goal is to preserve it instead of actively homogenize it because it’s a source of valuable information that shouldn’t be rounded to zero for efficiency’s sake. engineered diversity doesn’t contain that same information.
