what if the common discipline -> action spiel is entirely backwards. instead of mustering discipline for action it would be better to do the actions that increase discipline

capitalism does something similar with envy and greed. it is not the direct source, but because it profits from envy and greed, it indirectly incentivizes it while also preaching how to profit off of other’s envy and greed.
