in one big family the protocol of engagement is extreme passive aggression. between smaller families, outright conflict is allowed.

this boils down to one decision. how much power should money wield? money, as tokenized power is the only way to transmit power over long distances and across generations

the total amount of social power in a system is finite (since attention is finite). any power that is given to money comes from society. the more power money has, the less power society has

society controls through mechanisms like social pressure, shame, guilt, friendship, etc... like the nuclear force it is much stronger than gravity at short distances but doesn’t scale

a society that tries to get rid of money feels oppressive, the social pressure is intense. likewise, a pure money society feels cold and sterile. there is no difference between a stranger and a family member. only protocols.

the individual is “free” as a family of one, the sovereign individual. they are free to move to tax free texas and rule over their personal domain like elsa in Frozen

it’s running from one kind of suffocation for another kind of suffocation. socialism vs capitalism is two naked hoomans dying from the cold, unwilling to embrace each other.
