a rainbow is created only when you notice it not because it renders into reality based on your attention but because colors such as red or blue are exist ONLY in consciousness. when it is outside consciousness, the spectral phenomenon exists but the rainbow does not
this is also known as “does a tree clap in a forest if only one hand hears it” (paraphrasing)
similarly, YOU are also like a rainbow. your existence is composed of mental thoughts that do not exist in reality such as red, blue, honest, smart, spiritual, misunderstood, etc...

this perspective, like the rainbow, is called into existence by something else. when consciousness pays attention to the rainbow, YOU suddenly materialize out of the sub-components just as a rainbow is put together on the fly out of colors.
just like the cup image, a perspective is not necessarily one hooman. it could be two hoomans in a relationship. this “us” is the first step to the perspective of “we” and so on until the singular encapsulating universal perspective, the “this moment” or the “now”
because YOU are called into existence only under specific circumstances, YOU will have an unrealistic view of the world. just like how every meeting that the CEO attends ends up overly rosy. (or perhaps overly negative in a war room situation)
the job as CEO(leader of your own life) then is to manage despite this blindness. no one will tell you what is *really* going on. some may even be scheming to overthrow you.
maybe you are a tyrant. maybe you are a philosopher king. maybe you assume your immortality. maybe you are preparing to hand over power to the you of tomorrow. maybe you will only relinquish power when it is pried out of your cold dead hand.
The specific circumstances that call you onto existence is Your Life. the choice is to serve it or to control and manage it. do you own your life? or does your life own you?
the former requires you to chase greater and greater ascensions towards godhood as you understand the complexities of reality. the latter requires faith in something more intelligent and power than you are. humility is necessary for non-resentful servitude.
to hope for tomorrow is to insist on being there to watch when It Happens to have faith is to know that you will be called if you are needed and be content to serve when It Happens
to be optimistic is to believe in a better tomorrow. but there is always tomorrow and “I” cannot chase every tomorrow without constantly feeling lack.
to be pessimistic is to believe that tomorrow is not worth it. thus there is no need for an “I” as there is no where to go and no leader required for the leading.
thus virtuous pessimism should not exist. consciousness should not call YOU into existence if your are not necessary. if you DO exist as a pessimist you are a leader without a destination. a shepherd without sheep. you are standing alone because you are not needed.
why are you there? because you insisted on existing. by sheer force of will and habit and desperation. you wanted to be here. that is the irony of pessimism. it is made up of hope.
and hope... is the final desperate plea of the hopeless. only the hopeless hope. it is all they have.
