another way to say it is that hierarchies of value are pyramidal trees. the base grows exponentially compared to the tip. the only way to increase the maximum is to decrease the quality of the median. it gets exponentially harder to build a taller pyramid!
the result of this is that equal opportunity alone creates increasing inequality over time. the *only* way for equality of outcome is through harrison bergeson.https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1366808418980229120?s=20 …

this means that the efficacy of the hierarchy of value is limited by the leverage provided by a microphone. if the gods at the top can effectively manage the pyramid, then systematically it's worth the inequality because the maximum can be reproduced so easily.

if however the voice of those at the top of the pyramid can only reach so far, then there is an inequality "desert" that can't be crossed. a cap on your social status. an illegible caste system.

the increasing inequality nowadays is b/c technology is creating leverage so that the best hero can be duplicated. however we are now at a potential inflection point where increasing the volume and accessibility of the microphone is providing diminishing and negative returns.

this is because it adds noise and distortion. a microphone is only as effective as the fidelity of the message and its ability to create change and impact. pure volume alone does not make a better microphone.

the rising tide of capitalism is a meat grinder that sucks in warm bodies to feed the mass of the pyramid. more and more get integrated into the system and the top rises as the body bloats. this is good?https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1341269410686726144 …
