store of value is basically crystallized faith. it’s essentially arbitrary in nature though it can have immense “Realness” given enough power/popularity.

the tricky thing about faith is that destroying it doesn’t re-allocate it. it’s not zero-sum. gme doesn’t work as a store of value. it’a crystallized anti-faith.

a alien looking at two countries with the same skills, assets, tools, etc... might be confused that one is in a great depression w/ everyone hoarding gold while the other is in a golden age of prosperity.

so in one sense “value” and faith are orthogonal and in another they map to each other. resolution requires splitting value into “potential value” and “actualized value”

knowledge and skill increases potential, but the energy and motivation necessary to follow through and actualize potential requires faith.

faith is a special kind of optimism and is differentiated from its near-enemy hope in that it is not oriented only towards the future. instead it affirms the worth of Life itself both past, present, AND future.
