however, when combined, these atoms can create more complex "tools" that can feel "unfair" to ppl who don't understand how they work. just like owning a gun or knowing how to program (or knowing how to math)

a "Straddle" for example is a strategy that involves buying a put and a call so that you can make money no matter which way the stock market moves. there's theoretically no free lunch since the price you pay to buy these rights should offset the potential gains.

however at the end of the day it's gambling on the future. there isn't perfect price prediction. on the plus side, you have far fewer people competing in this domain so your particular life experiences and outlook may be an edge.

on the down side these ppl tend to be much smarter, much more motivated and compensated, and with an army of mathematicians, engineers, etc... this can feel 'unfair' e.g. high-frequency-trading is like Super Amazon putting dropshippers out of business

however....notice how shopify is still a very highly valued company and how there are still so many people dreaming of becoming independently wealthy through drop-shipping. the borg cannot assimilate *everything*. there is no free lunch but there *are* lots of crumbs.

the straddle basically allows you to have the ability to profit off of any kind of volatility up or down when normally you have to bet up or down. e.g. instead of wondering if sth will go up or down based on a riot or w/e you have another degree of freedom.

this is where personal life experience & context can beat cold hard rational analysis. take COVID for example, the magnitude was unprecedented despite some people hollering about how bad it was going to be. the mainstream, with all its crowd wisdom, is kinda dumb and slow.

if you can see sth no one can expect, you have an edge. the more specialized you are the greater your edge. the question is though... are you providing value for humanity? shouldn't you have spend that time writing a blog post sharing your knowledge?

the argument for value being provided is to observe how ineffective Voice is at changing the world. often times you need real world tangible results to force people to change. if stupidity is not punished, then stupidity will grow like cancer.

argument against this however is that everyone is stupid relative to God. we even LOVE stupid things like pets and babies and other things. we want to be just smart enough to enjoy life, not so smart that we drain the world of vitality.

this is why technology can feel EVIL. technology is a lever that amplifies a minority. a 180 IQ genius can use technology affecting a huge amount of the world while complaining "why is everyone such a stupid shit."

in many ways social media and the internet is like this. those who can take advantage of it become gods compared to those who are corrupted by it. it's like being able to handle the infinity stones without the gauntlet.

this is why when you trade options you have to sign a bunch of papers to say "i'm not a fucking idiot that will blame other ppl when i predict the future wrong by going all in or ask for handouts to save me. i will nobly go to valhalla if God so demands."

this is where you can point at the gme shorters and say 'u cowards, why don't you go to valhalla!' it's hypocritical b/c their business IS that of sending others to valhalla. they live by the sword but refuse to die by the sword.

notice the failure of humility on both sides. one side refuses to acknowledge themselves as smarter than average, humble bragging and deriding everyone else as stupid while refusing to take responsibility for the world, life, or humanity.

the other side refuses to acknowledge their lack of understanding, pretending and YOLOing themselves into desperate situations playing w/ fire and then asking for handouts and expecting the smart ppl to do all the work for them like it was 1960s communist china.

both sides refuse to love the other. the core reason? intelligence and the ability to deal with complexity has become the new God. there is no way to love when one side is closer to god than the other.

those below feel shame and guilt looking up, starving those up above of love and making those above feel resentful and angry at the cold world. it's not a matter of willpower but an aspect of the existing hierarchy of value and how hooman emotions work.

this is the other Ultimate Argument for Diversity. diversity across hierarchies of value allows for Love since individuals can be equidistant from God. within a giant ultra hierarchy of value everyone is slightly above or below everyone else.https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1359537327614226432 …

this is why people don't like sharing salary numbers even if they're roughly in the same range. it's simply very hard to be friends with someone if you know they make more or less than you. your mind will intrusively brag or deride.

it's also an argument for why men/women should have different hierarchies of value. different hierarchies is what provides REAL equality.

yet instead of solving the real problem of elevating the feminine hierarchy to equal status, the feminine hierarchy is ironically dismembered and integrated into the male one. in fact, all hierarchies are now being dismembered and integrated into the worship of intelligence
