shadow projection explained to a 5 year old: you know how you get really angry when you stub your toe on an inanimate object? you want to blame the person who put it there, or the manufacturer, or the thing that caused the thing, etc...

almost all forms of anger are forms of shadow projection. you get angry, but then need to create a reason so that you can concentrate that anger onto a person, thing, or circumstance. even though if you step back, things are just There and things sometimes just Happen.

it's not that this is "Wrong". after all, if someone doesn't put away there stuff, or there is a bad design decision, there really IS something that could've been done to prevent your bad feelings.

it's just that when you create a story about a Bad Person, now that story becomes Real and you have to keep on finding reasons to support the story. You have to add "also, you don't wash the dishes! and you smell! and you're a slob in general!"

that if something like A happens, there will ALWAYS be a hypothetical X that could've been done to prevent that A from happening. it doesn't mean that A was a punishment or that lack of X was a moral failing. it's just that EVERYTHING works this way.

reality is an intricate system of Happenings built on prior happenings. everything that happens it b/c something affected a million things and those affected a million more each and so on. it's crazy. anything that happens at all is a miracle including YOU.

so everything that happens in Reality (vs in your mind, thoughts, or self-created stories) is REAL (by definition of the word "Reality") anything that is Real is Sacred. (Add in sth. about God here) what is Sacred is that which IS despite the sheer impossibility of it BEING.

while it's easy to see how those pure beautiful fleeting moments are sacred, it's much more difficult to see how our bad dark negative feelings are also sacred. sometimes we just want to NOT feel them at all or NEVER feel them again.

but have you ever tried painting with white paint on white paper? it's impossible! you can barely see anything. contrast is what gives life its vividness. without "Bad" stuff, how would you recognize "Good" stuff?

you might find many parts of your life boring right now and that's not wrong at all. but it can be difficult for some other people to empathize with you since they literally fought in wars and lost friends and limbs and sanity for this peace that you deride as boring.

there are also people who live in constant darkness and pain. it probably doesn't seem fair. and it isn't. that's because life isn't fair. reality isn't fair. that's not ideal, that's just Truth. everything that IS is built on everything else being the way they are.

one small change can cause a million other small changes, then a billion, then a trillion. scientists even did a study where a butterfly flapping its wings could be the deciding factor in whether a hurricane forms! the Everything is conspiring together to be the Everything

i suppose the only redeeming factor is that such people aren't bored if they're always suffering...you'd have to make boredom a kind of suffering to make that equal. but don't... to be bored is to be bored with yourself since YOU are always with you.

what you want to feel at all this injustice is not a sense of righteous fury but that of humility. of feeling blessed to be given a gift. after all...you don't know how your actions will end up truly affecting the world. how can you be so arrogant as to think yourself as good?

there have been many experiments in the world where people tried to do Really Big Good Stuff but actually caused Terrible Tragedies. it's always the smartest, bravest, and most hardworking and cunning ppl who try to do the Really Big Good Stuff.

it's just that b/c they're driven by so much suffering in the form of boredom or anger that they never do the right thing because they never allow themselves to feel blessed, loved, or humble before the Everything. the right thing always is rooted in feeling that Life is a Gift.

the Truth is...hoomans run this world. there's nothing that us 5 year old middle aged cats can do do affect things at the macro level. a simple thing like opposable thumbs allowed hoomans to tokenize their knowledge across time, leap frog genetic evolution for cultural evolution

build guns, missiles, nukes, power plants, computers, cars, planes, armies, flash mobs, social media, etc... one small thing affected one million other things and those affect billions and trillions of other things.

the most we can do is prey on their sentimentality. if you say the word "meow" with just the right tone, you'll very closely mimic the cry of a hooman baby. they'll find you "cute" even if you go so far as to brandish your claws in their face.

so leave me alone, you're not a child. you're basically a young to middle aged adult in cat years so you should know all of this already.
