here's the thing about salaries... a salary is basically a dividend from the company. as soon as the company is unable to pay salaries with excess cash inflow, employees immediately become "parasites", even if the company is SO big it can pay everyone's salaries for decades.
it's like buying a dog. you'll pay top dollar for the cute puppy but MUCH MUCH less for a parasite ridden stray. once a company is diagnosed with parasites its market values drops like a knife, damaging internal processes, moral, executive comp, etc..
the cure for parasites is similar to the cure for cancer. you attack the self until the "weak" stuff dies. for cancer, you beat up the body w/ chemicals just enough so that the cancer dies but the body lives. for parasites, the skin or organs can often be collateral.
this is why you must never become a parasite and never forget how to hunt a mouse.
