Many humans on a quest to "find themselves" are just trying to believe(have faith) in themselves. Without an anchor feeling for what "Faith" is they end up trying to "prove" that they exist(are important) even though that doesn't make sense since that's not Faith.
The more "Faith" you have the more you *don't* need to dissect the world to lessen your anxiety at being "not sure". Too much faith and too little faith both lead to problems. With a lot of faith, it's much easier to be happier but also much easier to be "ignore"-ant.

With too little faith, you walk into much fewer walls b/c you're not ignoring them but are also always paranoid and anxious all the time. You *feel* the dark ocean surrounding you at all time. The doors you open lead to more doors, creating a constant feeling of drowning.

To balance the right degree of faith one exercise is to focus on breath. Fear of drowning is a great fear yet your body deals with this for you most of the time and even lets you take the reigns whenever you want.

Similar anchor points include a happy SO, a happy family as well as happy community(which requires consistently going to some sort of building regularly). When these shatter, faith is also often broken.

The less one can rely on something that is "other", the more one NEEDS to feel that they understand or are in control of ~~everything~~

With the paths to power (and control) being denied to the newer generation, often the only thing they can do is turn to understanding.https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1333339180601020416 …

Neither control or understanding is bad. It's just that they make for easy infinite distractions from faith b/c they have no max. No amount of information will help you if you with the courage to make a decision. No amount of money/power will help you with trust and intimacy.

TLDR; TPR: No amount of "doing" is going to make you be an optimist towards "being".
