The belief to examine is not “if you don’t have a good relationship with you parents, you can’t have one with your partnet.” That’s false. It’s “Why does it strike me (and some others) with fear to have this thought come up? What systems of beliefs and schemas is it touching?”
IMO it touches on how it takes a village to raise a child. If the parental relationships are damaged it affects the ability to start a family together. It's very hard to just a couple to raise a kid. Many in fact opt for dogs and cats instead.

Whether or not this kind of "family" is equivalent in "divinity" to a traditional family is unclear. Many traditional cultures would consider it heresy. Hence the "when am I gonna have grandchildren!!" trope.
