The Hero and the Heroine are IMO separate roles. The actual gender that plays the role is irrelevant. E.g. the difference between a Female Hero vs a Heroine:
The purpose of clarifying these roles into: Male Hero, Male Heroine, Female Hero, Female Heroine is that it enables more sophisticated analysis of whether or not the situation needs more yin, or needs more yang.

E.g. a common problem in tech is too much yang sausage. But the solution of adding in Female Hero's only *adds* to the yang energy and makes things worse. Conflict can increase when the purpose was to decrease it.

It also allows masculine/feminine energy to have more opportunities of courage by seeing the possibility to be more flexible with their own energies. It allows *everyone* to have some part of the Magician archetype (which bends both yin & yang)
