Here's how belief in God creates humility and why prayer can create miracles: When you pray to an omniscient all-powerful God to whom all of his creation is Good you must first convince the God that there IS a problem.

You must first zoom out of your situation and analyze it rationally, breaking down the problem into concrete ideas and potential solutions and explain why magical intervention is needed. This analytical step is "prayer". It is explaining your situation to God.

It also means getting God to emphasize with you. You're like an ant praying that the anteater shouldn't eat it. God is like "Hey man, I get that ur afraid of death, but look, I have this whole system here." "But sir, I am the chosen one! This is my slide deck."

This means that praying to God is praying to an entity so vast, powerful, and universal that you know it CAN'T possibly care about your human issue. It is just like islanders praying to a Volcano. It's not expected to literally intervene in pathetic human issues.

Why this can create miracles is that the process of prayer makes you zoom out of the situation giving you perspective and confidence, clarifies emotions and information, and also forces you to think about sales and marketing!

A bad prayer is like whining. It doesn't do any of the respectful groundwork before reaching out to such a deity. People can put more effort explaining their company business plan to a VC than they do for most prayers!

That segues into WHO we pray to. Founders can put great deal of effort into a slide deck. They're doing the equivalent of praying. However, they are praying to a false God. (angels lol)

"Praying" (doing the groundwork of assessing the situation and making a case) to a VC feels like selling out b/c we know the VC isn't God. It is just needs to play one due to time/energy constraints.

Thus people who pray to other humans like Kings or Gurus must connect who they pray to in some way to God to not feel like a slave. E.g. Divine Right or Direct Line to God. There is a "priestly" "divine" feeling at the top of every hierarchy of value.

This is why Innovation has to be Worshipped. Without innovation as a Holy Grail VCs and similar money functions don't have a connection to the divine. Instead of it kindaaa feeling like selling out it starts to *really* feel like selling out.

It is also why performance reviews can feel so distasteful. You literally have to treat the process as praying to God while a middle management bureaucrat measures how well you dance the the complex prostration dance.

This feeling of "bending over" is actually a virtue when it is praying to God. But because effective spiritual rituals are now mostly empty rituals, this sense divine of the divine is lose and there is an aversion to the very thing that can "save" you!

E.g. it's like a badly socialized and abused puppy. If it bites every human hand, it will be put down. Yet the most divine of those human hands offers the very magical intervention the puppy needs to escape its traumatic past and live a happy life.

Just like muscles can get stuck with a limited range of motion, so does the capacity to be humble, to be vulnerable, to accept the present moment in its entirety. Divine moments produce this feeling:https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1342416378150539264?s=20 …

The other, is to feel *very* sure about something and realize that you were wrong. E.g. a near death experience, of death of a loved one can "shatter" you fully. Psychedelics achieve similar effects as long as one avoids the Jungian "beware of enearned wisdom" trap.

Ideally a child is calibrated correct by the time it reaches its teenage years. The feeling of Unconditional Love has to have been experienced enough times that the emotion sensors have a well calibrated min/max so that full humility can be experienced.

Since we're nearing the end of the year it's as good a time as any to give truly humble prayer a try though. Treat is as a performance review to God. God most likely won't read it, but u still have to pour yourself into thinking about who u were, who u are, and who u want to be.

You might be surprised at the result... (The main difficulty will be being honest with yourself. If you have issues there then the report will most definitely be ignored since it'll feel cookie cutter)

A Manifestation Vacuum is an intricately "shaped" hole in the universe that can manifest that shape. A true vacuum is impossible so most manifestations are pressure gradients that fully manifest over some period of time.

Addendum: The steps involved in the above description of prayer are very similar to the steps involved in Non Violent Communication. NVC in fact, seem to be about acknowledging the "spirit of the divine" in both parties.

Which also means that if you can successfully humanize both yourself AND who you're relating to, then you don't even need the somewhat cheesy "needs" script the NVC protocol recommends.
