"He even got the stage of doubting that he was experiencing the room he was in he said you know some demon could be filling my mind was this experience, but what I cannot doubt is that I am that I am aware. That is the one the one thing I cannot doubt."

"And then there's the I that is aware, and that I that is experiencing you now is the same I that was experiencing yesterday and 10 years ago and when I was a teenager or child."

"We assume matter is not conscious so how does experience come out of something which is not conscious? That's what's called the hard problem. Even if we understood the brain completely, there'd still be the question of why does any of that brain activity result in an experience"

"Consciousness is not a thing to be created. Being aware was always there and as life has evolved and nervous systems have got more complex and the senses more refined, what appears in consciousness has got richer and more diverse and more full as time has gone on. "

"There's a lot of very deep similarities between the nature of light and the nature of consciousness. In physics, light itself doesn't exist in space and time it's somehow outside a space and time. Light in the physical world is more fundamental than space-time, matter, energy."

"And consciousness itself is outside of space and time, space and time exists within consciousness. Consciousness itself is more fundamental than the world of space, time, matter, energy. "

"We may think about the future, but that thinking about the future is in the Now. So there is only the Now, and there is only that single I that is being aware of it all. "

"I put an idea of myself at the center of my experience which is behind the eyes, between the ears. Because this(points to head) is this is where I seem to be experiencing the world. "

"That in itself is really an illusion. I am NOT in space and time, I am just experiencing this world of space and time and it is all arising in my experience. So in that sense it is all arising in me. "

"When you notice that experience of "I am" you feel that oneness, you feel that love of God, you feel that peace, you feel all the things that are ascribed to God a deity, you realize are actually the qualities of your own natural beingness."

"And then what happens is the students aren't as in the same state as the teacher. Little bits get misunderstood, and then they tell their friends and even translate it from one language to another and what happens is the truth gradually decays over time. "

"They're all right in the sense they all come from the same basic source, and they are all wrong because they've all lost contact with that source and gone off a particular interpretation. "

"It's the very act of act of looking for something out there that cuts us off from our own beingness. So as soon as we start looking out there, we're not going to find it because the very act of looking takes us away from our own self."

"When you've stepped outside of that then you don't need to plan in order to find happiness. And then you are more open to seeing what's required, I call it spontaneous right action. You're in a situation it's like "Oh this is what I need to do now". "

"I made decisions as I went along, but I never thought I'd end up being a writer or this or talking about consciousness or doing stuff like this with you. Just that's the way things evolved. "

"Most fear comes down to the fact we are afraid that the world will not be the way I think it should be in order for me to be happy. It's like if "I'm going to be happy, I have to have this, I have to have that..."

"Then we go around looking to change the world the whole time, but it's because you're so busy wanting something else, we are so busy wondering "are we going to be happy in the future" that we never give ourselves the opportunity to stop and be happy in the present"

"And this is what we do is we create discontent in ourselves and then look at the world to relieve the discontent." "Jesus said "the kingdom of heaven is not out there it's right here", and all the other teachers have said we are looking in the wrong direction. "

"I think there have always been people who've woken up in some way or another, through spiritual practice, through pure chance, whatever. But then all you had to understand it was your local community, your local religion, whatever that was. "

"You know this is going out on the internet. I am learning from other people. That feeds me. What I am discovering I share, that feeds other people. So we are all learning from each other, and when you have that, you have an acceleration happening."
Show this thread -
"It's happening faster and faster and what is fascinating now is you're finding more and more real spiritual teachers. They're not saying "I'm a guru" they're just saying we are people who are waking up in our own culture and sharing with other people what they're discovering."
