      Hmm... thinking about this more the "Market" isn't just a growing entity but an assimilating entity. Miniature markets sprout beyond the borderlands like lemonade stands.       Businessmen expand one side of the market by building it out, but the nature of its growth means it's illegible at the borderlands and only cheap & convenient at the center. Marketers help navigate the complex borderlands but they have NO influence outside the market.

      A local lemonade stand IS providing value the market cannot provide because of its physical location and can even afford to reduce quality with bad lemonade. however, the larger the market (rival stands, franchise encroachment) the more consistent the experience becomes.

      There's an increase/consistency of quality, but that's driven more by best quality/price ratio that addresses maximum market size (mcdonalds) than total possible quality(hipster burger)

      globalization is like the central market now having conveyor belt tentacles that allow it to "project' itself farther beyond the borderlands than ever before. The internet and 2-day shipping both allow THE market to compete with lemonade stands.

      This is the core function of the free market and marketers. They both expand the "Market" by making this magical genie available to more and more people. The more powerful it becomes the more goods it can offer cheaply. IF you can navigate it.
