the desire for death and the desire for life are actually somewhat similar b/c both are desires for a clear and reliable sense of where the "border"(fear) is.
I'd say the desire for life is the desire to push back the border and increase the "surface area" of consciousness. The desire for death is the desire to clarify and push back the *fuzziness* that obscures the border. They act on different "things" but in the same direction.

while pushing back against the shadow there is a 'grit your teeth, fake it till u make it' element but once the border is clarified there's more of a peaceful appreciative wu wei state. (the desire for life becomes effortless eyes wide open love)

if you really want to connect the two you can do sth like: "the barren dead tree in winter bears fruit in the spring. knowing this you must apologize to the tree. 'You were an alive fruit tree all along!' You were life, not death!"
