Narcissism is a strange bird. If you takes "self love" and mix it with "no self" and "true self as god" you get: "pretending to be God to love self." Thus narcissism => atheism => lack of 'true' humility. That is, narcissists cannot see "God" in "Other"!

In a narcissistic interaction, one is always trying to "eat" the other. Failure to do so creates tension and stress fractures in the model of godhood. If a narcissist can control or change you, you will be loved the same way God loves all of creation. If not, you will be hated.

This seems to be the main weakness of strict rationality. Strict rationality splits the world into the "Known" and "Methods of Dealing with Unknown" and holds no space for mystery.

It instead bookmarks these shadowlands as "Lands to conquer for when I regain my zest for life and conquering." (Yet ironically it is often lack of mystery that has drained the zest.)

In a strict rationalistic interaction, one must constantly signal adherence to a model of coherence. You can't "skip" a step by teleporting through a woo portal. It's (rightfully!) considered cheating.

The difference from narcissism is that one is not trying to consume the other but to have the other be consumed by "Science". It can feel very much like the film Birdbox. "If only these fools would open their eyes they would see the beauty that we see!"

This is true to some extent. Arrogant irrationality can cause a great deal of problems. (It seems to be the most common in the U.S. because its decentralized nature prevents such 'stupidity' from cascading into a giant system failures.)
