Bread/Circus IMO is a severing of values that serves the goal of scalability. Bread sustains, circus gives meaning. VS 'whole' food that simultaneously sustains *and* is worth living for. (e.g. Grandma's Stew, that which passes on the torch of love)
There's this chunky condiment that's very popular but also hand-filled b/c to scale it w/ a machine would require liquidating everything into sludge to fit through the pipes. It's *still* made at scale though but only b/c of cheap labor in China. Bread/Circus r liquidated forms.
