"**But if you strip the essay of its sophisticated language, the core argument Rao makes is ridiculous**: most CEOs are unintellectual dummies whose sole purpose is to keep the company on track, rowing in a single direction."

"As a writer, I admire what he’s done. But as a business person, nearly everything that Perell says in the piece about business is subtly wrong — enough to make me treat his essay as entertainment, not education."

Though I'd argue that similar to Taleb's style "grabbing you by the guts" there are benefits to various styles of writing even if they technically convey the same information when stripped down.

Thinking is habitual in the same way piano, juggling, sports are about compressing complex movements into habit. Repetition of the same simple movement is a necessary part of the process.

10 different pieces of writing using 10 different slightly-wrong "insights" shines light onto the elephant from 10 different directions. Different readers require different lights before they "aha" the elephant via a mix of novelty and repetition.

"Writers __seem__ smarter because writing forces them to clarify their ideas. Beyond a certain level of competence, the quality of writing becomes the quality of their thinking; conflating the two is why you think writers are smarter than they really are."

^ Similar to "But You Did That in Thirty Seconds.” “No, It Has Taken Me Forty Years To Do That.” writing can compresses weeks into minutes, projecting a heroic impression vs an IRL chat w/ all its loose threads and miscommunications.
