Thinking a little about what community even *means* in a modern context Many of us grew up with experiences of pretty tight knit friends and family communities, weekend barbecues, extended friend/family dinners I don't see this as much in present day (even pre-COVID)

A "tight knit" knot comes to mind. The rope being pulled by the two ends of future & past. In modernity, the "future" end of the rope is short b/c lack of cathedral/children projects that outlive a single lifespan. The present is trying to "eat" the whole future => loose knot.
