“Chop wood, carry water” is the equivalent to many religious folk repeating their old metaphorical stories instead of rooting their lesson in the present.

Every time I started a new job, the commute seemed long in the beginning. But after a few weeks it just became part of my day. Dishes however have always been a source of constant background burden.

Once a burden becomes part of the pattern of you, it no longer is “heavy” because there’s no separate “you” that carries the burden.
