Rocket ships don't really fight gravity, they overcome it. Their orbits and thrust calculations both rely on gravity. They are friends, not enemies.
Another way is identifying w/ larger and larger things. "You" start as a point behind the eyes can expand and move that "center". E.g while running you feel like your legs, while playing piano you feel like your fingers. Sex => whole body rooting.

So obviously the sensation of "I" is larger than that spot behind the eyes that identifies as mind, but is it also true that the maximum of this is whole body? After all, it seems silly consider the chair or the room as part of your body right? They're "separate".

Yet we may actually have *more* control over moving the chair around than things like metabolism, stress/anxiety response, feelings, back pain, blood pressure, etc... It doesn't seem like *that* much of a stretch to consider inanimate objects as part of "me".

Think about when using a tool like a knife, pen, basketball, etc... These things become "part" of the body at high levels of proficiency. You can feel *through* them. With another person, you can also "feels as one" or feel a "connection"

So if this is possible for a tool...what's the limit? Can you increase the boundary to arbitrary distances? What if you increased it to such an extent that you can feel through the earth. Then you'd be floating through space. You'd have defeated earth's gravity.
Show this thread -
This is a metaphor for fighting other "enemies". Most fights as like being the rocket. You're fully dependent on your enemy because you want to be in orbit around the enemy of "gravity", giving a constant middle finger to it.
Show this thread -
But the true way of defeating an enemy is to identify with it. There will always be enemies of course. When identifying as the earth you reach a level level with a new boss of the sun's gravity.
Show this thread -
But theoretically you can identify with it even further until you identify with the entire universe. To explain the woo here a bit identifying with the universe isn't an infinite task. It's bounded the same way a VR game is bounded.
Show this thread -
A VR game can create psuedo-infinity but it's limited to representing that 'reality' in 5million pixel frames. That number is further reduced and compressed into a few signals that arise in consciousness.
Show this thread -
To identify with the universe then is to just identify with everything in your awareness at every moment.
Show this thread -
What makes this easy is that everything that arises in awareness is by definition part of "you". By just identifying with yourself you identify with your awareness which is the highest resolution snapshot of the universe you ever get.
Show this thread -
Try this experiment. It's something common in meditation practices. Just "note" the sensations that arise in every moment. It might be something really slow like "In that last 1 second I had a sensation of coolness on my arm, then a blink, then a bad event at work."
Show this thread -
See how even though these sensations are discrete, they feel like "one" thing, they have almost unlimited resolution. e.g. the volume of data in a feeling of coolness is the same volume of data in "bad event at work".

If you've ever exited a Flow state you've felt something similar. You see that entire snapshot of you in the zone as a single discrete snapshot happening across instant time. The reason flow states stand out is b/c they are *far* more detailed than regular daily sensations.
Show this thread -
It's also possible to feel very complex emotions like "My terrible childhood." or "My bad parents and all the time they XYZ." as singular discrete sensations.
Show this thread -
(* btw the reason they aren't *pointers* is because remembering the past is the same thing as recreating it.)
Show this thread -
The difference between these complex sensations and more simpler ones like "in-breath" or "out-breath" or "heat on arm" is because these simpler ones are more compressible even though they technically occupy the same infinite canvas output space.
Show this thread -
So sitting in a room and meditating can allow you to be the universe. You don't have to actually understand all of the universe just like you don't have to understand how your cells or nervous systems work to feel like your body.
Show this thread -
One interesting side effect of identifying with all the contents of your awareness is that unlike the gravity fight where you identify as earth => sun => galaxy to move the locus of the new enemy, at universal identification there are no more enemies b/c your enemies are you.

TPR: if I move all my stat points into empathy (including sanity), do I become everything?

addendum thought: "naming" has the ability to compress an infinity of meaning into one thing. They're useful when you "name" something you've experienced(for recall) but names are useless when borrowed externally. It's an empty pointer that recalls nothing.
