Just like physical space, "psychic" space also triggers instinctive defensive reactions when a stranger is encroaching on your "territory."

If I'm the quirky but fun guy at work, I have to defend my territory or else have my identity shrunk by being the quirky but fun guy with a mustache. Even if it's a cool mustache I shall resent being pushed into this smaller niche.

Coca cola would like nothing more than to just sell Sugar Water but that territory is far too big to defend so they just stake out portions of it, managed by Captain Co, Shogun Sprite, and Sultan Schweppes.

Having a "thing" serves two purposes. 1/ It carves out a large enough psychic space that you can stand up and stretch and so on. 2/ It makes legible where your boundaries of aggression are. As long as your space isn't encroached you have no right to aggression.

Ryan: I don’t want to be like, a “guy” here. You know? Like, Stanley is the crossword puzzle guy. And Angela has cats. I don’t wanna have a thing, here. You know, I don’t want to be, the “something” guy.https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2010/10/14/the-gervais-principle-iv-wonderful-human-beings/ …

Ryan cannot have a "thing" because having a thing limits possible aggressiveness. Ambition requires growth and all growth is aggressive in zero-sum environments. The more illegible you are the more your aggressiveness is considered a trait vs a territory intrusion.

While reality may have a surprising amount of detail, religion does not. As a representation of reality it is limited by the token while reality is infinitely fractal. Religion, Math, Coding, etc.. all can fit into Tomes of Fundamental Truth.

These psychic spaces are both limited in volume and also often far more compressible information wise. E.g. a tree house vs a glass penthouse. Because there is so little psychic space, fights and wars break out all the time.

The bloodiest battlegrounds are the result of wars over Truth. Truth is the opposite of peace. Instead of allowing people to spread out, it forces them into a sterile funnel where fights inevitably break out.

What makes Truth a force for peace is the ironic "The Truth is there ain't no Truth. Ain't that the Truth." By turning towards reality rather than a representation of reality there is potentially infinite psychic space.

In practice there are 2 recurring core errors that prevent being able to take advantage of this infinity.

The first is that unexplored psychic space is freedom the same way the desert or the ocean is freedom. If you go in unprepared, you're just going to die. They are not heavens. They are hells. Freedom is limited by the ability to digest raw reality.

The second is only interpreting reality through rationality. When you think you're *already* looking at reality. Their attempts to make use of infinite reality are often ham-fisted b/c they disregard the importance that their internal state is ALSO a part of reality.

Reality and Truth are like Time and Space. The more energy you put into one, the less energy you put into the other. The achieve the highest resolution of reality you have to give up ALL Truth. To fully inhabit space you give up ALL of Past and Future.

Being able to fully inhabit Reality also ironically gives one the ability fully inhabit Truth, gaining the power of storytelling(and cult leadership). The strength of the inbreath is in proportion to the fullness of the out breath.

Time and space are similar. Fully inhabiting one nullifies the other. The feeling of being "One" is timeless. Vice versa the feeling of Flow has the moment compressed to a zero-space singularity.

Searching for Truth is like going at light speed all your life so you don't age. It's quite tiring. (also kinda sorta impossible)

Unless you give up all "mass"(identity) and become a photon. How do you know you've done this? Hint: photons don't have to "try".
