Rephrasing Wants as "what is missing" leads to some weird scenarios.

If it doesn't manifest, it means that the hole wasn't properly formed. E.g. you can't manifest pizza if you haven't experienced pizza. You can't manifest money if you don't know what it actually IS. You can't manifest friendship if you don't actually know the other person.

"My life is missing freedom" is a bit strange, even though it should be similar to "I want more freedom" which feels obviously 'good'. What is a freedom shaped hole? It doesn't make sense b/c defining the shape would limit the freedom.
Show this thread -
Life in a way *is* freedom b/c it's opposing entropy/death. The very possibility of having a hole presumes the original existence as existing. To create a hole in a soul, you need to create the soul first.
Show this thread -
So soul hears a wonderful thing called "freedom" and tries to contort itself into various shaped holes to manifest this "freedom" even though it itself IS what it is looking for. Freedom is ability to create these holes, or as I'll name them "Manifestation Vacuums"
Show this thread -
A Manifestation Vacuum is an intricately "shaped" hole in the universe that can manifest that shape. A true vacuum is impossible so most manifestations are pressure gradients that fully manifest over some period of time.
Show this thread -
Freedom disentangles the obstructions. For example, if a "Self" shape is constantly being manifested, then most of the energy goes into maintaining that self. Because self is ill-defined, it can never be said to fully have manifested so it never finishes. A neverending function.
Show this thread -
Once energy from maintaining self is released there is "freedom", maximum flow. The flow state is like a temporary superconductor state. No resistance at all.
Show this thread -
Note that this puts a hard limit on "magic". Even with no resistance, the new state has to occur over non-zero time. Things can't just 'poof' into existence. They can do so verrryyy quickly, e.g. insects and computer code just 'poof' around relative to our clock speed.

So if you're trying to manifest 1 million dollars magically into your back account it doesn't work. It's like having all the worlds money, heck, being world dictator, and asking for a skyscraper to be built in 10 seconds. not gonna happen.
Show this thread -
It also points to a disconnected desire. When the reality and the internal model differ so greatly, it often means that the desire was mimetic. E.g. the money and skyscraper weren't desired directly but as markers of status.
Show this thread -
This means that it's not something that the soul "really" wants so it doesn't manifest.
Show this thread -
Now... soul doesn't really exist. Within the boundaries of something defined as 'this soul' there are goals. The manifested soul manifests inside itself whatever is necessary to continue itself.
Show this thread -
But it's useful to think of it as existing as an example. A specific 'soul' wants something. By splicing out this character it's like being given a board game token. It can now play the game/start the story.
Show this thread -
In a board game some cards are shuffled chaotically. This creates a "maze" of darkness that the character navigates. While from the character's pov, it's a grand story. from god's pov, things are just happening as expected according to fate.
Show this thread -
Navigating even an artificial dark forest can still generate real Story Energy. It's possible to be "raised" by board games, computer games, internet games. (nerdiness inevitable)
Show this thread -
Manifestation feels like magic but it's actually a form of "seeing slightly into the future". It's like that 'surprise soda' from Harry Potter. Drinking the soda doesn't *cause* the surprise. It's that only right before surprise happens that u want to buy soda
Show this thread -
That is... wanting a specific future is the *same* thing as SEEING that specific future. When these two energies are coherent, it means that reality/fate is being 'accepted'. What this implies is that accepting fate actually creates freedom!
Show this thread -
If the *only* way to see the future is to want it (because they are the same thing) then accepting fate is the only way to move forwards instead of being stuck ruminating.
Show this thread -
The reason why 'wanting' and 'seeing' feel disconnected is because most wanting and seeing is corrupted or false. What is 'seen' is an overly warped vision and what is 'wanted' isn't really what is wanted. Wanting energy feels entitled and greedy while Seeing energy feels cynical
Show this thread -
You could call it the infinite game vs finite game (zero-sum) visions of reality. From the perspective of the finite game, wanting and seeing are completely different while they are the same from the infinite's. (note not to confuse infinite w/ very bigly)
Show this thread -
The infinite perspective is okay with not knowing (b/c not possible) while the finite but very bigly perspective wants to project across lifetimes. But even a googolplex is as far away from infinity as 0.
Show this thread -
If you're thinking "This is just a convoluted way to say that 'reality happens' using weird metaphors of soul, vacuum, and manifestation" then yes, that's correct.
Show this thread -
But these more woo-ey base terms can be like switching from cartesian to polar coordinates or vice versa. Some things are made so much easier that it changes everything.
Show this thread -
The manifestation vacuum concept for example is a useful rationality <-> post-rationality bridge. Manifestation: If reality has enough information so that something happens somewhere, then that thing happens. Reality *is* just a bunch of info calculation done by atoms bumping
Show this thread -
Since awareness is part of reality, it allows the same cause -> effect model to be re-used in woo contexts. All it needs is to accept awareness as a fundamental property of reality instead of isolating itself as a separate neutral entity performing a double blind experiment.
Show this thread -
What is implies for personal manifestation is also interesting because it allows you to reason about if what you're trying to manifest is overly magical. You can gauge the pressure gradient that your manifestation vacuum is creating and estimate based on size/speed/complexity.
Show this thread -
If that estimate can't be done it also means that you're trying to manifest something that's too complicated. You're a wizard Harry, not suddenly Dumbledore.
Show this thread -
If the energy can't be brought to bear to fill in the knowledge gaps in order to "cast" the spell... then did you really want it? Magic doesn't mean "easy". Magic is just advanced technology and technology is *HARD*.
Show this thread -
What most desires for magic are is a desire for some authority figure to package the complexity into a simple button. A magic wand is desired with the same energy a gun is. There's a rejection of responsibility.
Show this thread -
Note that this rejection isn't necessarily bad. Many people have rejected the responsibility of being able to live as hunter/gatherers or farmers for example. Rejection of responsibility => specialization as part of society. Yay. togetherness.
