      The Character of self is fully destroyed only when the Audience is recognized as a character as well. Otherwise the character is still bound by the expectations of the audience. It's like going from being trapped to being aware of being trapped, hardly a better position

      Think of a critic. Within the critic's mind there is *always* an audience. The presence of an Audience forces one into a judgmental and critical role. The critic is the jailer yes, but it only acts as an embodiment of the will of the audience.

      Sankhara is like a "construct". If Upadana is a seed, then Sankharas are the warped houses built out of the twisted lumber that grows. It is a collection of mental events built into a story about how the world works.
