It’s like a roman legion. The power to project power forcefully comes at the price of individual thought and individual identity. You submit yourself to the hierarchy of values b/c being a dick with no asshole (imperfections) is the only way to avoid being fucked.

Anyway... hope this hand waving helps w/ understanding: being apolitical, disillusionment with ideals, hyper-pragmatism with money, obsession with weapons like sci/tech, centralized individuality sapping systems, criticality of keeping the communist ‘ideal’ alive, etc...
