Testing out @nosilverv 's threadhelper: Stubbornness can be a virtue for storytellers. You tell a shade to keep out anything and everything that disrupts the story so you can believe in it more deeply.

To realize you are the storyteller is a high pressure situation. You have to continue telling the story no matter what. Otherwise people start jumping overboard.

It prevents the structure from dissipating due to injection of irresolvable moral paradoxes.https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1316472206646374400 …

Whether this story is 'good' or 'bad' or even makes sense or works doesn't matter to its 'validity'. If people believe in or want to believe in a story, those who are in charge of maintaining the story will be paid Big Bucks to keep it afloat.

It can obviously be taken too far, a broken record repeating the same script over and over again...https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1299470265378721792 …

The advantage of bullying yourself with is that you have control and predictability. The slap isn't a surprise. The disadvantage is that it easily becomes a script that repeats over and over again. When the world slaps you, it's mostly an unintentional accident.

To be stubborn is to have faith in self which is to know your limitationshttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1313568166673408000 …

       🐈 added,

       🐈 @a_yawning_cat
Stubbornness has an element of Faith in Self. An educated rational person can still be stubborn. Ideas will be changed when presented with evidence but there will be more paranoia about the 'evidence'. How it was gathered, interpreted, etc...

stubbornness is like the gate that keeps home safe and warm, and also eventually becomes the stifling boundaries that prompts one to seek or create a new onehttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1311582445297258496 …

A new home can never be found in a story. The only true home leads away from the stories.

A new story told is a gateway to a whole new world. yet the very same stubbornness that binds it into something coherent with life also causes it to replicate and persist. The more it's repeated, the more serious it feelshttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1319564292555902976 …

       🐈 added,

       🐈 @a_yawning_cat
No one can actually live in serious space as a home. It's possible in a limited capacity for young adults but they eventually can't keep up with the new young blood.

Perhaps depression is a kind of stubbornness. A desire for only a certain kind of happy story. Would explain why depression can be a fountain of creativity. To someone dying of thirst, the story of water is divine.https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1285492377948323840 …

       🐈 added,

       🐈 @a_yawning_cat
Depression is a feeling that you'll experience your life in circles. That nothing 'new' can every come into your life. Cutting yourself introduces something 'new', a new negative experience. As does creating something new.
