Skills are like growing vines. They take time. Providing a trellis is giving it room and potential. There are aspect of passion that is engineered in that you have to consciously create empty barren space to be filled with life.

The empty trellis or balcony is by necessity barren because that empty space is intended to be filled by something slow growing. It has to be kept empty and barren until it is filled.

Which is why being too passionate about things can kill your passion. If 99% of the space is barren, just walking into it saps your will b/c of how ugly it is. It's like buying a 10 bedroom mansion and living in it by yourself.

The problem is like when you buy at costco b/c bulk is cheaper but then you don't end up using it or it goes bad. The minor efficiency optimization creates a huge error in the imagination accuracy. Your ideal becomes overly rosy in support of the efficiency script.

Having to "refactor" your balcony or garden every time you realize you're reaching your limits is a pain but it's like living in a cozy condo and going bigger only as necessary for actual family needs.

This avoids encountering vast emptiness/loneliness that gives room for nihilism to creep in.

The 'engineering' mindset can only do this mansion creation. It's as of yet still pretty stupid compared to Nature. If it's overactive, it doesn't 'serve' the growing life and instead kills it indirectly by exposing it to too much world.
