A snake is dangerous because its 'weaponry' is disproportionate to its perceived 'size'. Two gorillas going at it is more 'honorable'. They aren't perceived as sneaky..

At a political/relationship level it's better to be the gorilla b/c communication is more important than increasing the lethality of the 'poison'. Poison is toxic to relationships b/c it's lethality can be seen *only* when it's used.

Interestingly enough there's some honor in name dropping within this model. Though it's often used in a way that creates the impression of wearing a body suit with muscles and abs printed on it.
