At risk of pompousness, some thoughts on nazis and evil:

Specifically I believe that considering someone a nazi is a perfectly okay thought and that even expressing it would be fine too if it wasn't overly charged with a mess of Other Stuff that breaks down communication as soon as it is mentioned.

For some background, I came across the Wave experiments/movies again where a teacher, to explain, nazism, recreated the same dynamics in the classroom to illustrate his point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wave_(1981_film)#:~:text=The%20Wave%20is%20a%20made,during%20the%20Second%20World%20War ….

One of the reasons nazism is so difficult to talk about is because it's a description of a seed to forest phenomenon. It's the social equivalent of physics discovering how much power is in an atom.

It is both infinitely small and terrifying huge. A grammar nazi is still a nazi, we just have certain procedures in place that cuts it down before it can bloom into its fully destructive form. E.g. self deprecation via "sorry for being a grammar nazi but ...."

The common majority interpretation of "Nazis were bad people, we won, all is good now." is like saying "Stop science, nuclear bombs are bad, we have enough technology now."

It ignores the point that we've discovered something new and terrifyingly powerful about everyday reality and that requires and increase in social responsibility due to letting this cat out of the bag.

E.g. if a country allows anyone to have a gun, then social responsibility has to be ingrained into every person. Social and political apathy isn't an option just like not knowing that injecting bleach and disinfectant into your body doesn't cure disease isn't an option.

Pointing out that certain behavior is nazi-ish is the same as asking someone to be careful with making decisions or code changes that affects massive amounts of people. There's a responsibility to not allow it spread and bloom uncontrollably.

It's the understanding that certain ideas are like viruses. They get into your mind and "infect" you unwillingly. It's not about force of will or lack of intelligence, or not being a good person. It's just an uncontrollable virus similar to how wildfires are uncontrollable.

Similar to wildfires, "fire" isn't bad. Lack of small fires actually lead to accumulation of fuel that leads to terrible fires. Nazism is like flesh eating bacteria. It's just regular bacteria that becomes terrible and dangerous under certain conditions.

So the word "nazism" can describe both a candle as well as a wildfire. This makes communication difficult because the only allowed usage is in reference to the wildfire form. Everything else is considered hyperbole.

Part of is it b/c there's history and politics. Nazis were an actual group of people. The Holocaust was an actual specific historical event. You could use the word fascism but for all intents and purposes they mean the same thing. They're parsed as "bad bad bad wildfire bad"

Whatever the right word for it is it should be similar to Nuclear Fusion. It was tried once. It created great power and energy in times of desperation. But it was a runaway process that exploded.

China is currently the closest to tapping into this immense energy. There is *huge* power being generated and they think it's under control. Similar attempts to channel this energy in the U.S. are like north korea playing with water rockets.

That's to be expected from a country that feels like it "defeated" the nazis. A country of waterbenders that defeated the tyrannical fire nation is not going to be particularly good at mastering new cutting edge firebending techniques.

It's not complete bullshit and irresponsible usage of technology. China has a track record of doing things at scale that other countries simply can't do. E.g. large dams, high speed rails, mobile payments infrastructure etc..

Some criticisms are: "You copied/stole our technology." "Your dam is flooding villages" "It's just authoritarian centralized control taking advantage of brainless mass labor." "You can't even control food quality" or "Yeah but we went to the moon."

Just like you can gauge what type of bombs are being used by their energy density and second order effects like radiation you can gauge what kind of power is being used at a social level.

China is using a new technology that attempts to tap into and control the "nazism" that is INSIDE EVERY ONE OF US (just like atoms are everywhere) Nothing else matches the energy density signature.

Just like nuclear fusion is easier with certain elements, certain types of psyches are easier to fuse. A specific type of education system are metaphorically the same as the processes that enrich uranium.

(In this new paradigm, the U.S. is a 'peaceful' country because its ability to purify uranium is pure garbage. Its mass education system is a joke. The same memes about Kim Jung Un and rockets apply to the U.S. in this regard.)

It's also not something intrinsically Terrible, Bad, and Evil. All you have to do is not shun it to shadow and take care of it by giving it some love and attention everyday.
