Cultural boundaries can be great when they create pockets of behavior that differ and create diverse consumption habits.
E.g. if the land I have can only grow massive amounts of soybeans i’d certainly be glad that there exists a huge mass of people who want tofu and sou sauce.

While the local population may enjoy these things as a novelty, that I can literally contribute to another cultures way of life and be paid for it is quite fulfilling.
