In a yang heavy culture the men feel larger than the women. It takes time to know who a man is, but women are sized up 80% in a second purely on appearance. The 'smaller' person is easier to understand.

Gaining expertise increases resolution of sensory experience. "small" people are people perceived in low-resolution, blurry and pixelated, because we're not interested in nuance related to them. Like an overly compressed JPG.

It's a downward spiral too. Lack of interest creates lack of expertise which creates lack of interest. Entire groups can become the same homogenous shade of Yellow/Brown/Black/White.
