In a yang heavy culture the men feel larger than the women. It takes time to know who a man is, but women are sized up 80% in a second purely on appearance. The 'smaller' person is easier to understand.

In a yin heavy culture the men are sized up instantly. E.g. if you're White and a Man you can be immediately sized up into a stereotype. People will feel like that there's nothing worth knowing you more for.

To be sized up is to be written off. To be marked "Not a source of interestingness in my life." It's like marking an apple tree "apples will not be tasty".

To make someone feel good you make them feel big. You make them feel unknowable with a lot of depth. To "know" or "get" someone is to make them feel bad by making them feel small.
