The equivalent of dragging a dog by force and wondering why the dog walks are still such a problem.

Something else like piano though is easier because I can always fall back to something fun. I can tell my fingers to push a bit more on whatever technical movement I'm working on because I'm able to "reward" them with something they care about.

That is, the "work" is possible because there's a bridge to "play".

I suspect with endurance, the "play" aspect for many people is some sort of social thing like running/biking together in a marathon or a team sport like basketball/soccer. Experiences that I never really had.

While its great to have things jump when you say jump, the point should be to command with the spirit of a game master. The purpose of power is to increase the efficiency of the work via centralization so that more people can play.

Thoughts like "How can I motivate X" are wrong because it indicates an incorrect mindset. The right thought should be "How is this person not having fun?"

Or for the self. "Why am I not happy?" Usually it's closely related to not wanting to look stupid. Which would explain why the children and the old tend to be more happy despite not being at their 'prime'. They don't have to care so much.

When I try to teach piano for example, even though I'm trying to share a path that's "fun" rather than a grueling path of music reading, theory, and scale practice, there's a large barrier. Sitting in front of a piano as a beginner makes anyone feel like an inept fool.
