Integrity is tensegrity. The stronger the identity, the more powerful the tension holding it together. It's critical when you're being relied on. The arch has to support the structure. The leader can't waver or else the team/tribe/company/country crumbles.

Thoughts like "those people in that other state are dumb fucking idiots" weakens the nation bond. If a shockwave would to occur, the nation would break. The bonds are too weak to hold together.

Ideas never truly die. They become "dark". They are shadows like the idea of "slavery" or "rape". They exist like ghosts in our modern consciousness but were perfectly normal things in the consciousness of our ancestors.

If "America" were to have negative connotations, how would that change things? Good or bad? One bad thing is that there's no more "See, diversity works" success story. Countries will be left with various forms of homogeonization as their only conflict resolution.

One 'good' thing is that the dangers of entitlement would be more wide spread. Overall though I think the world isn't ready just yet for the "U.S. as good" story to end.
