In that sense, the feminine communication is invisible because it happens outside the public sphere. That makes its “power” hard to measure but IMO it’s equally if not more potent.

I suspect socially, status seeking behavior on say instagram seems degenerate because it makes this power visible. It’s like showing off “Look at how much invisible influence I have. I’m the puppet master pulling the strings.”

Lots of things lose their power when made legible. Political moves, jokes, seduction, etc... their intrinsically dark/invisible/subtle. They slide between the pieces of your ego’s armor and either cut or tickle you.

(Ego is the armor though, it can die, but what it protects cannot. Once it realizes its uselessness it allows “you” to fully see and appreciate the invisible without having to throw it into the light.)

There’s a yin/yang dynamic to legibility/illegibility. The legible/illegible distinction is probably more effective than the order/chaos one because chaos has such negative connotations.

However, the downsides of forced legibility are becoming increasingly understood.https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2010/07/26/a-big-little-idea-called-legibility/ …

There’s great power in the illegible. But the way to unleash it is not to make it legible. That would defeat the purpose. The comfort of cool shadow does not survive the searing judgement of the sun.

If women are to save the world, I suspect it won’t be with a flaming sword leading a loyal band of Avengers. It’ll be the courage to stop pretending to be happy.

If men are to save the world, it won’t be a Final Solution that cleanses the world of disorder. It’ll be the courage to accept unhappiness.

The world cannot be saved by either yin or yang alone. Total victory by either leaves no space for the other. The loneliest thing is to dance alone.

Most people don’t have a good enough relationship with themselves to dance with themselves. There’s an aspect of self-hatred to loneliness since there’s a rejection of someone who has been and always is there for you.
