I'm drawn to saying controversial things because I think they shouldn't be controversial. I'm mad that people get furious over true things because of external implications that they see as bad. I want to keep saying true things for the sheer point of being able to say them.
Within companies, anything negative is a derivation from the core truth “We’re all gonna die what does it matter” so anything negative is suppressed. Over time the environment becomes allergic to truth.
In the absence of any force compelling people to care about the truth they tend to drift towards fictions which provoke nice feelings. The truth is mean; it makes you feel small, short-lived, and unimportant.
