Ever notice how you can just instantly stop shivering when cold if you put your mind to it? I suspect this 'muscle' or something similar is the same mechanism that allows you to 'just be happy'.

The other is realizing that you yourself wanting to change is the blocker itself. For this one, depression can help... If you follow depression deep enough it takes you to a cliff. At the precipice it is made clear that whether you step off the cliff or step back is a *choice*.

A full happiness rep is probably composed of a few smaller movements: Gratitude, Appreciation for Beauty, Releasing Anger, etc... E.g. a gratitude journal can be like doing one assisted pullup a day.
